Parent workshop: raising readers in a digital world

Practical ideas from our counsellor and librarian on screen time, reading routines and homework habits — plus the slides to take home.

Thank you to the 85 parents who joined our workshop on Saturday morning, "Screen time & study habits". Led by our school counsellor and librarian, the session shared practical, research-based ideas for building healthy routines at home.

Five ideas you can try this week

  1. Agree on a family "tech-free hour" every evening — adults included.
  2. Keep devices out of bedrooms at night to protect sleep.
  3. Read together for 15 minutes a day, and let children choose the book.
  4. Create a quiet, well-lit homework corner with everything they need.
  5. Use the parent app to check homework and praise effort, not only marks.
"Children copy what they see. When parents read, children read." — Mrs. Rabia Sheikh, Librarian

The slides and a recommended reading list for every grade are available from the school office. Our next workshop, on exam wellbeing, will be announced on the parent portal.
